Coastal Jaeger – SSG and Books!
Because of so many of our supporters live outside of Sweden we choose to make this post in English as usual even though to the content in links etc are in Swedish… but! That could very well change because there are plans to release the author’s books in other languages.
Books are timeless – That’s why they are such great gifts and keepsakes, yes, agree the setting of the story might be present as when the book releases but who hasn’t pulled one out of a shelf, flickered thru the pages and the settled for it (possibly for a second time!) regardless of era, sunken down in a comfy chair right before the fireplace and started reading it!
This post is about two such books, far away from Tac-Up Gear´s M90 camouflage products one might think but not so… not so at all!
The books I am talking about “Operation Nordvind” and “Parsifal Direktivet” is of fictional character with highly read-between-the-lines-reality which only an author with insight knowledge can provide!
You follow the life and adventures of the former SSG – Swedish Special Forces Gustav Sterner in a roller coaster thriller were he benefits from his elite training.
The books are written of the reserve Coastal Jaeger Officer Captain Kaj Karlsson that also went through the gruesome training and earned his badge and place in Sweden’s most secret unit : SSG ( Now called SOG) but there of course is more than that the books must also contain a cadence in the writing (do call it a skill) that will make it readable and broad to the public to reach out and here Kaj succeed in doing his homework and bundle both the operator side with a storyline in two insightful and action packed books!
Some years back, back in 2011 i was contacted by Kaj (nearly fell of my chair should be noted!) me not being in the book business but rather in the M90 camouflage business and had little to nothing to do with books i did have had products reaching into troubled areas around the world like Afghanistan, Congo (and now Mali i am told) so some sort of buzz was up. I did and do of course also have had Coastal Jaegers as customers from time to time but none that struck up a conversation like what this was to become!
That initial contact in fact ended up with Tac-Up Gear having a draw for signed copy(s) of his first book “Operation Nordvind” bundled with some of our gear and there was some lucky winners out there! After that the years passed as time does, we had some banners for the book in the webshop etc but writing books takes time and concentration so continued contact just sort of ran out.
Until today the book(s) has resurfaced and been mentioned at many places including at Soldf.com forum and in some competitions, has even been complemented by excellent bracelets from Kjellbergs Paracord etc (so be sure to check both links out!) and if that is not enough, the author has received awards like Swedens foremost own publisher (2013) and 1:st place in Indie Book Awards (2014) for the success with the latest book “Parsifal Direktivet”, no small feat!
Now during December (2014) I felt it was time to reverse the initial contact and check up on the SSG trained author making contact yet again in a “how are things” kind of way and sharing what I had been up to.
Indeed i had followed him in social medias through this long time (and so should you, check out the links below) so I knew the captain had released yet another book since we last spoke – called “Parsifal Direktivet” and that of course was also something I wanted following up on as well.
Now when contact again is established we will see what can come of it, so keep tuned to our blog!
Now check out the links and pictures below to learn more about the author and where to buy the books etc!
