December Forest – Nature Calling!
During December and November we have been visiting the Swedish woods, making a fire enjoying the surroundings and generally getting fresh air into the lungs!
Taking the time to get the feel for the forest in this autumn/winter scenery is a great and wonderful thing for slowing the pulse and freeing the mind. Having a pair of gloves is a must when breaking a trail or cracking dead and dry branches to make a fire. I tend to take the OPPO series of gloves with me on these excursions to protect my hands!
Mind you, we are in the heart of Swedish Viking country and you could sense how they once lived in this same type of woods!
Training on making a fire in a damp wet forest should not underestimated either, who knows when that can come in handy? Not only will it ease those times when i need to make a fire that is sorely needed fast and then you really know what you’re doing instead of meeting failure when in haste!
The Swedish forest this time of year become dark at a switch and the sun seems to fall off the earth more rapidly than one can expect so a headlamp is wisely packed in your rucksack.
Making a camp or just sitting down a bit a Tarp/Poncho M90 could be a great accessory in the pack as well!
Now go out and enjoy the silence!
