Field Boonie Hat M90 – from Bush to Boonie!
Inspired of US , Australian and British forces brimmed –cut-bush hats we created our own very first product type called simply: Bush Hat… much have happend since then!
We also had a type of boonie hat early on in the same full cotton fabric, but in 2013 we introduced the top notch “Field Series”!
Having had a thought of having a product in between a wide brimmed Boonie, or a short brimmed Bush hat I started sketching on a more subtle Boonie type hat model.
As always the color pens were used to make a clearer picture of the product I wanted.
I had some ideas ready even before starting with the pen… the brim on front should be able to stay in the upright position without falling down.. like on a pirate or cowboy.
This I put in context with draping your Field boonie hat with a scrim scarf or netting and when not in full use it could be pulled up and fastened as not to obstruct your vision or face.
Net holes in the scull area for warm weather comfort and the mandatory chinstrap in knotted in separate eyelets, sturdy nylon flatband all around for easy attachment of grass or netting all makes out the design features.
The thing with all this was that this was conceived in 2011! 2-3 year later we first saw the light of this as a real product… not so speedy you might think! But who said this was an easy business?
The finished Field Boonie Hat M90 we so proudly carry in our inventory today was in the end rationalized somewhat, for instance the mesh inside the scull area was removed, pocket on top was never made etc, etc.. In the end it was all for the better.. the hat is really nice in cotton/polyester blend with a nice “floppyness” to it!
